Hello! We're the LCRC

Our research involves the intersection of

cognitive processing and linguistic behaviour.

Synopsis:

The exact manner how linguistic knowledge interacts with other aspects of cognition in communication is not thoroughly understood. Hence, the Language & Cognition Research Cluster (LCRC) aims to address theoretical and practical questions that arise at the interface between language and other cognitive systems to understand the cognitive aspects and processes underlying human language, particularly in multilingual and multicultural contexts, through cross-linguistic and cross-cultural research. The cluster hopes to unearth the universal and language-specific processes and mechanisms that underlie communication, both in written and spoken forms, in situations when communication works, or when communication is disrupted, both in typically developing individuals and in those with special needs, through various research methods - theoretical and/or empirical.
